The City has been championing the Route 47 Widening Project for many years, all the way from the preliminary engineering study and design phases to now as construction is soon to begin in 2026 and utility relocations are currently underway.
Due to the hard work and collaboration of the City's many partners this project is so much more than pavement resurfacing! Additional proposed improvements include the following:

PROJECT FUNDING BREAKDOWN
The Route 47 Widening and Expansion Project represents an estimated $78.4 million total investment in regional transportation infrastructure. The City of Woodstock is partnering with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), which covers most construction costs.
The City's portion of the project totals approximately $25.1 million, primarily related to utility relocation, streetscaping, and lighting improvements. Through coordinated planning, grant strategy, and advocacy, the City has secured $15.65 million in outside funding, including:
As a result, the City of Woodstock's remaining local share is estimated at approximately $9.5 million.

- $10.0 million through IDOT's Local Transportation Grant Program
- $2.5 million through IDOT's Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program
- $3.15 million in federal Community Project Funding
As a result, the City of Woodstock's remaining local share is estimated at approximately $9.5 million.
PROJECT HISTORY
