ROUNDABOUT 101
Roundabouts are designed to improve safety while keeping traffic moving. Unlike traditional intersections with stop signs or traffic signals, vehicles travel in one direction around a center island and yield to traffic already in the roundabout. This design reduces severe crashes, minimizes delays, and creates a smoother driving experience. Modern roundabouts are recognized by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) as a Proven Safety Countermeasure.
